Cleaning up my GT
Hey, I just bought a 99 mustang GT, it's black...and has 91.000 miles on it. Now I'm wondering if it's smart to run off supercharging an engine with 91,000 miles on it. I was thinking maybe do a little engine tune up, or overhaul, before I try to run off and supercharge an old motor. What should I do to it before I S/C it? Forged stuff? Ec...
Any help would be swesome. I'm relatively new to mustangs. I had a 4.6 ford truck, and did a little engine work on that...but any help?
Thanks

RE: Cleaning up my GT
how much did you pay for it? where are you located @? standard or auto? the safest amt of boost you can run w/o forged internals is 8psi...but i donno if you should do it to an engine that old.

RE: Cleaning up my GT
My friend i bought it from needed money fast...the interior is in horrible condition, but I'm planning on putting racing seats in etc...so that doesn't matter. he never raced it, took good care of the engine..and sold it to me for 6k.

RE: Cleaning up my GT
I got my 1999 gt with 91k miles on it for 6k too. As for F/I, I put nitrous on my car and it was running fine. However, I put too high of a shot on it which caused some piston rings to go boom [:@]. I think if you were to keep the boost reasonable it would be okay if the engine was taken care of like you said.
