dude swapping into an 5 or 6 speed tranny is a huuuuge job. not only would it cost tons and tons of money in labor, you have to find someone to do it and that is just about as hard as coming up with the 4 grand to do it.

what you should do instead is build up your automatic tranny. get a shift kit, torque converter and a trans cooler. maybe a stall converter if you want one too. after that, you're tranny will be better than a 5 speed. the only downfall is the fun factor that you lose with having the auto
I thought Torque=Stall Converter
It is the same thing. He's just dumb.

what does a shift kit do to the transmission and what does a high stall torque converter change?
A shift kit (I'd go with a Transgo kit) allows you to adjust the line pressure in the tranny. So does a tuner.. BUt, a shift kit typically has new valve bodies as well and is generally more efficient thana tuner, not to mention cheaper.

A torque converter/Stall (high stall torque converter) increases the rpm at which the convertor enages. Effectively giving you a higher rpm at launch. Anyone who has ever raced an auto know it sucks ***** launching at 1800-2100rpms. [:'(][:@] But with a mild stall (2600-3000) you can get your car higher in the powerband on the launch which = faster ET's. Couple that with a nice shift kit, and a set of gears and you've got a manual eater. If you're gonna install any of that stuff, spend the extra 80-120 bucks on a tranny cooler to make sure it lasts.

kind of off topic but when you launch with an auto do you neutral drop (which ive heard are not good) or do you hold the brake and press the gas until the car wants to spin the tires and then let off the brake to go?

ok i didn't read everyones posts here but i saw he said something about this is his first car so he don't wanna sell it...so if you are realy that much for increasing your time by buying a whole new transmission...why'd you get the auto in the first place?? just put a shift kit n stall converter on your auto and you'll be good i believe

Well my car is faster than urs!
Yea, i'd say it is faster than my Escalade. But, I got more cubes.

Plus, I got my R6 if I have to go fast.

If you do a neutral drop you will only do it once or twice before your transmission explodes. Thats very bad on an auto. You should hold the brake down and press the gas, find the rpm's that your car starts to spin tires. Lower the rpm's just enough that the tires arent spinning, thats where you should launch from.

Easy there? WTF are you talking about? He thinks driving a stick is better. What does that have to do with the fast and the furious?
