Default Help a poor Aussie on the ways of the 4.6L

Hey All,
I am from Australia and wondering if I can ask a few questions about the 4.6l engine.

We never got the 4.6l engine released generally in our performance Fords, we jumped from the 5l OHV straight to the 5.4l DOHC engine. The 4.6 engines came out in a few special release Mustangs that was converted to right hand drive.

Anyway I was interested in putting a 4.6 engine in one of our earlier Fords that was design for the 5l engine as I presume they are smaller than the 5.4 and I have heard that the 4.6l engine is a gem.

Since no one knows muck about the 4.6 liter engine I thought I would ask you guys.

Question 1:
Does anyone know where I can get a comparison table between the 4.6l and 5l engine that compares dimensions and weights online? I understand there are several different makes of 4.6l engine with some with SOHC and other with DOHC. Is there any comparison charts between these too?

Question 2:
Petrol (gasoline I think you guys call it) is getting more expensive every day in Australia. Can the 4.6l engine can be configured to run on LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas which is still pretty cheap in Aus.) with good performance, reliability and engine life?

Question 3:
What manual gearboxes are available for the 4.6l engine? How much torque can it take before life starts to get interesting?

Question 4:
A quick search revealed lots of turbo information for mustang engines. Are there any good web-sites that compare turbo kits and discuss issues with turbo engines?

Thanks for your time.

Jonny.

P.S. Color? Why can’t you spell it like we do? COLOUR! You guys keep confusing me! (Sorry I have always wanted to say that to a group of Americans )

'Color' is easier.

Converting to a LPG capable car would cost 15x's the amount you'll pay for gas even in Austrualia in 10 years driving a gas guzzler 4.6 V8.

I should give you an indication of how much petrol costs in Australia. For the regular paint thinner stuff it is around $AU 1 a liter, and 4 cents more for premium unleaded, which what all the preformance engines use. LPG only costs about 30-40 cents a liter, which even though you probably will not get as good milage & power compared to the same amount as petrol, its still a hell of a lot cheaper to run.

I understand that America petrol is dirt cheap compare to the rest of the world. Am I right?

Gas here cost roughly $1.89 per gallon. There is 3.87 liters in a gallon if im not mistaken. Just a while back it cost like 2.10 a gallon. It always goes up and down.
