RE: How to get a 99 Gt up to 350 hp
be careful with the nos. your best bet, if u plan on adding any significant amount of horsepower to your car, start it off right, and build up your bottom end. FORGED INTERNALS!!! trust me, u won't regret it. i was at the track 2 weeks ago, and a kid was there with a 97 GT. hit his nitrous, nitrous backfired, snapped his crank in 2 pieces. FORGED FORGED FORGED!!!! :-)

What this means is having a good SAFE tune, and not doing stupid stuff like banging the car off the limter, running nitrous without all the safety items (RPM switch, WOT, pressure, etc etc)
The stock shortblock is acutally a fairly strong peice for a stocker. Its no LS1, but you can safely make 425~ WHP on the stock assembly with a good tune and some common sense.
Adding a shortblock to a otherwise basically stock car is just a waste of time/money. It puts you that much farther away from getting the blower/whatver parts you want, and it adds virtually nothing until you get said parts.

i think the 4.6 block is actully stronger than the 5.7 ls1 block. i heard with an ls1 if you put anything over 8psi of boost in it you will blow it and people run what 11 with our stock block and its still fine. so our block is actully really well. just do it right is what hes saying and youwill be able to get mucho power and not worry about blowing the engine at a race.

There is absolutly no reason you cannot run nitrous or a blower on a completely stock engine, so long as you do it properly.
