I still would rather have a centrifugal s/c then a roots. Plus I would rather have it under a mild cowl so it's more of a sleeper. I think a centrifugal s/c 5.4 in a mustang is still pretty different so I think the extra money will be worth it.

im hoping some new motor mounts and a k-member might drop the block down enough to fit it unter a 3" or 4" cowl

A K-member should allow you to mount the motor a little lower, and possibly a little further back for better weight distribution. Doing this should allow you to fit it under a mildly raised hood, I think.

SINISTER,

i also heard that the motor mounts in the '00 cobra r were a little lower than those of regular mustangs. do you know anything about this? ive heard that the lightning swap puts the intake about 6" above the hood, so if i can get 1.5 - 2" drop in the mounts and k-member i might fit this beast under a 4" cowl.

40thgtfl,

I too became interested in this 5.4 swap after debating between building my 4.6 and even stroking it to 5.0. After a lot of reasearch i stumbled upon a bunch of other people doing the 5.4 swap. The blocks can be had for cheap and theres people doing this swap for relatively little.

check out this 5.4 swap thread.
it took me two days to read through it all but it has tons of valuable info

The 00' Cobra R motor mounts are 2" lower then a stock mustang. I don't know if you can just buy this mounts or what. The only problem with lowering your engine would be messing with your pinioin angle.

if they didnt screw up my pinion angle those motor mounts would be money. id probably have to add some spacers to my tranny mount too i suppose. i guess ill try the dealer and see if maybe you can order the cobra r motor mounts? thatd be nice [sm=signs003.gif]

They have those big ss style scoop hoods on a 4" cowl for our cars and they look riiicccceeeeee
mines a 3" with a SVO Scoop and it barley fits on a N/A 5.4 you will need either a 6" cowl hood or a 3" cowl with a power bulge
