it could also be the front windshield (bad seal). really the only
way to fix this would be to have a windshield repair shop reseal

How would it be the windshield? Shouldn't it get the dash wet too? Also, I checked under the carpet and from what I can see, the metal floor of the car is in tact. The driver's side is still black and looks good and the passenger side is a little rusted, but not bad. I didn't see any holes.

Come on, all you mustang gurus and no one can explain something like this? I checked under the mats and it seems to be just water on each side. So that means it is either the a/c or a leak. How do I check for a leak in the windshield? I drove it through the rain and I didn't see anything that would make me think the windshield is leaking. This is going to drive me nuts! Anybody else have this happen to them?

I'm 99% sure if it's the heater core it'll leak only on the passanger side. If it's a leak of some sort, it's easy to sort out, take a hose to the car and spray the crap out of it.
