It'll be okay. I'd try to replace the sensor before you leave though. 10 hour trip...ehh I'd make sure the car is running properly before you go for peace of mind...

My '00 had the problem too. Everytime I washed the car it would stay on for a day or so. Ever since I installed the blower, it doesn't happen. Something must be in the way to prevent the sensor or its wires from getting wet.

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as the coolant level is fine, the light means nothing. I would keep a watchful eye on your temp gauge and check the coolant level at each gas stop on your trip.

i just fixed this problem in my 98 GT.....you can unplug your sensor, to be sure that is the problem first. If the light goes off there's your prob. This sensor has use except to let you knwo when your coolant is low. So if you unplug it it will not harm anything else. And the guys are right to replave it with a new part you have to buy the coolant tank from ford. Or you can do lik i did, and a buy just the sensor from a local salvage yard, clean it really good with some electrical cleaner, and put it in. It works perfect now!

its a 00 gt problem. It does that in my car too from time to time. Coolent is just fine and so is the whole cooling system. Ive had it checked out a few times. Its just a weird thing about these cars. It does it when it rains a lot too. . . .
true that... well that happened to me when i changed the intake manifold.... for like a week that stupid sign was apearing and dissapearing, but then finally dissapared... until last sunday of course this time my coolant was low
