A/C turns off when full throttle.
After all the races with the A/C on and me thinking it robed my horsepower it cuts out when you flore it. Well i cant use that for an excuse when i loose[:@]. did any of you know that?

Hit full throttle in a high gear (so you can give it time to cool off) and your AC will get warm - I don't know if it actually disengages the clutch on the compressor though - but I assume thats what happens. Reguardless, I always turn my AC off anyways when I expect to romp it.

Dude, It seriously cuts the power in half. Maybe that could be a good thing. You forget the a/c is on, you race someone on the street floor it and the a/c turns off! That is custom tuned if you ask me. lol

Yeah mine cuts off as well. If I floor it, and stay in it heats up quick. As soon as I let off, you can feel it kick back in. Your going to lose a lot on takeoff before it actually cuts out. Maybe it's a 96 thing...
You know, other than your hood, you have my car!! Nice ride!

I'm not going to go out and say ALL cars do this now, but certainly MOST cars do this now. I had an '89 Dodge Dynasty (now that's an old ride) and even she killed the air when I'd get on it.

The tps just sends a voltage to the ecu based on the amount of throttle opening - so thats how I would expect the ecu to know its at full throttle as well, when the voltage reads a certain amount then disengage the ac clutch.

I tested it today and I was at WOT through out all the gears and it never warmed up and I did have less power. I stopped at 110 and the A/C was still ice cold and blowing just as hard as it does when parked.
