LS1's are beasts
I have a buddy with a Turbo'd SS...that thing is a beast and a half. His brother has a KB GT, see what sibling rivalry leads to...[8D]

because they need to segment the market. I know it would be great to have a 4v in a GT but then the cobra wouldn't be so great and what would be the point of the mach 1?

Chevy's problem wasn't putting power under the hood. The reason the mustang kept making ford money than the camaro for gm was the broader spectrum of pricing/product. The end result was the Camaro went away (although apparently on temporarily) and the Mustang kept on producing. I am still a big fan of the Camaro, but on the business end of it all, gm blew it.

Add on top of this the "unwritten rule" that nothing will outperform the vette, and gm cannot run the marketing band a mustang does, from v6 to saleen extreme. Whether youve got 19k or 70K+ to spend, Ford will be happy to help you spend it on a pony!

HP ratings on the LS1 were/are marketing BS. The SS makes no more power than a Z/28, the engines are exactly the same, some will argue that the ram air hood makes some power, but timeslips and dynos have proven this not to be true. 01/02 LS1's will put down 300+ rwhp on average. On the subject of auto vs M6, a stalled auto will flat out butt rape an M6 car. BTW there is a sticky in the Street/Strip section about LS1's.

I have an 02 SS it is rated from Chevrolet at 345 Hp I have read test runs as low as 12.9. What makes the typical SS deifferent from a regular Z28 are the SLP factory add ons. Mine has the SLP blackwing ram air box and the SLP center out cat back both total good for 20hp
