How do you work the Steeda timing adjuster?

RE: How do you work the Steeda timing adjuster?
This is the best bang for the buck and not just because I am selling one! The install is simple and takes less than an hour and I am disabled due to 3 back surgeries. The 4.6 needs timing as it has a pitiful timing curve stock. I got my UDP's at the same time and brent told me to add 6-8* with the adjuster ON TOP OF MY PREDATOT tune I had at the time which I added the full 10% it allowed for both rom ranges. I added 6* with the adjuster and got no knock.
Stock the 4.6 computer calls for 10* at 4K rpm's and Brent sets his 93 tunes at 23* at that rpm. At 5K rpm's the stock system calls for 16* and Brent sets his at 24*. Quite a difference huh? I got no knock even though I added the 6* on top of the Predator tune I was running at the time with both rpm ranges set at the full 10% allowed. Do a search for STEEDA TIMING ADJUSTER with sweet99 as the author and go mback 3 months and you will find a thread with full instructions another member gave me and he got a 3 mpg increase with the adjuster and UDP's! I got my mileage back to where it was before I added the 4.10's I have. Except for firming automatic shifts and correcting speedo's for gear changes most tuners change the timing curve and the canned tunes are VERY consrvative. I now have finished my mods and sold the Predator and have a Brenspeed custom tune SCT tuner so I no lomger need the Steeda adjuster but brent has pics on his site, www.brenspeed.com under 4.6 Mustang and "timing". Pics of the partsn and another of them installed. mark

steeda timing adjuster comes with very good instructions. It is a well made quality part. the hardest part of the install is loosening the crank damper bolt. I had one,but went with a predator later.

If you look at my post above you see that the 4.6 has a terrible timing curve. What the Steeda timing adjuster does is take the crank sensor and place it in a bracket that comes with the timing kit and allows you to set the base timing, which is 10*, to any amount up to 20*. I ran mine at 16* on top of the Predator tune. The best part is it increases the timing across the entire rpm range and not just at WOT so there is a HP increase across the whole rpm range, better throttle response and better mileage. Check the search topic with sweet99 as the author and you will see pics and instructions. You can run 18* with 93 octane and not knock. Or be safe like I was and run 16*.
Until a guy is done with his mods and is ready for a custom SCT tune this is a GFEAT mod! I used it on top of the canned Predator tune and then went with a Brenspeed custom tune for MY MODS and the octanes I wanted it tuned to. Until you are ready for that get the adjuster! Mark

I'd save your money and go with a tuner. You'll need one if you ever get a dyno tune and you'll be able to adjust your speedo if you ever do a gear swap, perm turn off your traction control, turn off your O2's if you get an o/r midpipe etc etc.

I've dealt with Brent on a couple purchases and he was hands down the best guy I've ever dealt with online for any of the hundreds of purchases I've made online. He'll also answer any question you can throw at him too.
