If you're thinking of a car as an investment, you're crazy. On any mustang, whether it be cobra R, Cobra, new shelby, etc. You will never get your money back.

Buy the car, but drive it. Enjoy it. Dont let it rot in a garage.

+1 There is no reason to let an 03 cobra rot in a garage. Although it all depends on what your motivation is for buying a car like that. If you're buying it to drive it and have fun with, then forget about it being the first cobra or whatever, just go find one thats not so expensive.

If you're like the guy who bought that first of the new shelby 350H's for $250,000 just because it was the first one and because it was a great collectors item, then you should definitely go buy the cobra.

If i had the money i would buy it. Then again i would drive it all day everyday. No point in spending the money if you're not going to have fun with it.

see heres the thing money wise. since my saleen will actually appreciate in value i wanted to take out the original motor/tranny/rear end and replace it with the new 281E 3V motorand a tko-600 tranny. id also replace the guage cluster. see if i get the cobra it really wouldnt be very wise if i bought the car and swapped the motors.

i like the 95 cobra r and all the sn95 is my favorite body style but ive never owned a red car.

David, pass on it... I'm picking up a terminator very soon 100% stock with 31k miles for $23,500... sure it's a bit high on the miles but I can't find any evidence of it having been anything but stock for it's life, the bottom of the factory pulley shroud where it bolts on isn't scuffed up so I doubt it's even been removed at all... that's the biggest thing I was looking for.

You can find a red terminator that isn't #0001 (yet probably still stock) for 26k around this time... if it being the first one produced is worth $4000, go for it, but I'm not so sure it'll be worth any more in the long run... You know the miles it's had have been very hard, and even though it's 100% stock, terminators 100% stock tend to lose the 7 & 8 cylinders to heat build-up from the hair dryer on top of them... it hasn't happened yet, at the VERY LEAST check the plugs on 7 & 8... if they've been changed recently then be very skeptical.

I have an option to buy a completly bone stock Red 03 cobra hardtop number #0001 this is the car that MM&FF and 5.0 mustang used to test out the cobra in late 02. he wants 35K for it and it has 3500 miles
#0001 with 3500 miles for only 35K?

I understand your filthy rich to begin with, so there really isn't much of a need for you to invest in a car...but that car will most likely triple it's current value in 10-15 years. I'd buy it, put it in a bubble in your garage and be glad you ever got such an opportunity.

I don't know why anyone would let ABUSE stop them from buying this car. I also don't understand how anyone could say it's not worth that. It's #0001... Any car that is serialized, with such a HUGE fan base... It's never going to decrease in value. Ever.

BUY IT!

If you don't, give me the phone number. I know of 5 people I could sell my car to for about 5 grand less. I'll buy it and park it.
