Default rear bearings

at very low speeds, i get this noise from the back. its like a whomp whomp sounds(dont make fun of it) what im thinking is it could be the rear axle shaft bearings and or wheel bearings. i need to install my gears soon and just checking to see how much of a pita it is to do it all. im at school and im inside my shop right now. im here for auto and were slow as hell and i got an open lift right in front of me. i would figure it out by myself but i might as well ask you guys. thanks

I Had the same exact noise!.....it turn out to be that my passenger side axle was a deffect from ford....so while it was in for that, i had the shop do all the bearings, a new passenger side axle and put in 3.73's....the bill came to be around $1100..hope this helps...if need any more help let me know.

i get that same noise too(i think). when i had my 4.10s installed they said i needed a bearing for the rear axel, which i assumed would fix the problem...it didnt. so i dunno because they said the axel itself looked fine

I had that noise, i replaced bearings and seals and i still had it, so i took it into a shop, so they said the whole diff case needed new berings and the carrier bearings had to be replaced, and the cause was the bearings ate the axles away and it tore the bearings up in the end of the axles shafts, it costed oh around 650 inc. labor
