Default Underdrive pulley?

Im thinking about a underdrive pulley kit, they seem cheap enough but are they effective? Is it worth the dough? How long/hard is the install? Do i need any special tools? what brand do you reccommend? and does the stock belt work with them?

Thanks!

Underdrive pullys are effective, but it is not yank you back in your seat effective. You will notice a differece on a dyno, and perhaps a small amount on the street.

It is a fairly easy install, shouldnt take more than about a hour or two. The biggest problem that I had was the alternator pully bolt didnt want to come off. I ended up having to take off the radiator resivour tank (like 3 bolts) and push it aside so I could get the impact directly inline with the bolt.

To install the underdrives you must have a good impact wrench and a 3 bolt pully puller. A regular pully puller wont do. I also recommend having a big set of slide jaw pliers if the alternator pully decides to be a pain to remove and spins on the belt.

I got steedas and was pleased with them. No problems from them whatsoever and they are looking nice after a couple weeks of use.

BTW the stock belt will work with them, but I decided to get a belt one size smaller. It was a very tight fit, but there is no slippage at all now.

would you reccomend something else before the pulleys? im considering either a densecharger/maf/tb/plenium or a catback/midpipe also, but i dont want to drop 800-900 in my car if i wont notice much differences. the only mod now is 3.73's.

What do you reccommend i go with next? the pulleys were just a though because they are so cheap.

02 gt 5 spd

thanks!
