sc 4.6/5.1/or 5.4????
Im kinda stuck with what i want. I have a 99 gt with a few mods but my friend is going to help me buils an engine to drop in it. He builds mostly chevy motors but he suggested a 5.4L. I looked into it and it almost seems like too much money and effort than its worth.??? I want around 500 rwhp, maybe alittle less but no more. Ive been looking into the moded 4.6's and 5.1's but i dont know what would be the best and or easiest rout. Maybe even a moded cobra engine? Im going for a street setup, not drag so any opinion is welcome. Thanks to all.

Don't stroke a 4.6 really its not a good idea. A big bore kit for a 4.6 would be great - it unshrouds the valves and really helps the engine breath - as well as more cubes. BTW - 500 rwhp is easy to get with a built bottom end 4.6 and 12 - 15 lbs of boost.

Sounds nice but probably too much power for a daily driver. I think i want to go with a SC. Can i get to 500 rwhp with a SC 4.6?? What would be the benifit of a 5.4 over 4.6? Bare with me, im learning

Also its a automatic........ I know, i know, but for the price and what it had i had to take it. My friend also suggested a manumatic trany??? Dont know too much about all that but my auto is still awsome. What do you guys think i should od in that area as well?? Keep in mind day to day driving/ rice stomping. All this will go with my 5 link suspencion and 3.73 gears i already have.

Hey MD... What does the big bore kit consist of and whats the cost? Never heard of that myself. I was always told it was a waste of time to stroke OR bore a 4.6.

Now a big bore kit on the otherhand is phenominal for a 2v. The problem is that the cast iron blocks can't be bored more than .030" over. With that being said, you'd have to go to an aluminum block for the big bore kit, and they overbore the aluminum block and put sleeves in. 2v GT's all have iron blocks, so it would require a block replacement to big bore.
