3.73 gears

RE: 3.73 gears
Question 1) How much highway driving do you do?
If you don't see the highway that often, go with some 4.10's. If you are on the highway a lot, go with the 3.73's. Either way you're gonna notice a big difference.
My car had 2.73's stock, unlike the new edge's which, I think, have 3.27's. So basically, going from a 2.73 to 3.73 is a HUGE jump. Whether you get 3.73's or 4.10's, your car, just like mine, will still fall on its face in the high rpm's. Start savin' for that PI swap.
You're gonna be doin a lot more shifting, make sure you make room in the budget for a short throw shifter too.

RE: 3.73 gears
I have to agree w/ all. Got my gears in last thursday and i finally got past the break in part and I LOVE THEM! they aren't to extreme, to me, they seem close to the jetta i used to have. Although i must say i now want a short throw to clean up the shifting! Go for the 4.10 at least!

RE: 3.73 gears
yes u will do more shifting.. but u can skip first in normal driving anyways... and 98 GT, with 4.10s you can still easily drive on the highway and get good gas milage...
as far as high RPMs the car will still pull in 5th gear with 4.10s.... and the car will have more power down low then 3.73s and will pull harder in any gear at any speed... so...
get 4.10s.. dont ask any more questions.. do it... do it

I'm not saying 4.10's are bad or anything, I love mine, but if you are doing a ton of highway driving, mpg is noticeably affected.
Then again, who buys a mustang for the gas mileage?

RE: 3.73 gears
Hey, mine is an automatic.
I don't race alot, but I would like to pull a little better times particuarally in the 0-60. Anyone know any figures on exactly how much these gears improve performance? Again, I am also thinking about 3.73s or 4.10s and I dont really want to sacrifice MPG.

but with 4.10's in the 1/4 right at the end wont you have to shift into 5th?
