Jon is talking about the actual hinges that help you open the hood. Using the "lift off" one, it doesn't bolt onto those hinges, thus the need to take off the hood. You can still use hood pins with the regular hood, it just actually bolts onto the car, and thus, opens the way a normal hood would.

it wont come off, it will just be a hassle when you need to check your oil or do work, because you have to take the hood off. Also, when your taking it off to work, its more likely to get damaged

I wouldnt go over a 3" cowl, They are a pain in the ***

well i dont pop my hood for no reason, when i change my oil i can take it off, its only 25 lbs. i dont see why i would need to pop my hood, where i would be in a sitution that i cant just lift it off.

It may only be 25 pounds but it is large and awkward to do by yourself. The lift off hoods are mainly for strip cars because when you work on a strip car you need full access to the engine bay more often. The major difference is also in weight savings. If this is your daily driver a couple pounds isn't going to make a difference. I would just go with the one that bolts up to what you have now. In other words NOT the lift off one. But at the end of the day it is your choice
