Default no heat shiels on flows?

hey, whats up guys.wel..i didnt get any info from the pipes section so ill put in the 4.6 sinces its a bigger section .i just got my flowmaster super 40 delta flow install today..stock H and pipe on my 96 GT auto stang. i remember reading a warning on the box saying highly recommended to install stock heat shields that come with the original OEM mufflers. i was able to get them out however i cant strap them to the flows and i didnt wanna weld them to them until i get some metalic ties or something. anyways, i couldnt resist so i install them without heat shields. it runs great and sounds awesome..however, is no heat shields going to affect them dramatically? do i really need them or they r just a precaution? thanks for the info

well....im just a n00b...and i dont know a whole lot....but...i DO know that i had a pair of flowmaster 40 series put on, at a local muffler shop when i first got my GT...and as far as i know they have no heat shields, and i didnt know they were supposed to. ive had no problems what-so-ever with mine...other than i would like the sound to be a bit louder...so soon i will get the o/r h-pipe.

do you have any pics of the stock "heat shield"? I've replaced everything in my exhaust but the manifolds, and I have no idea what you are talking about when you say "heat shields"

yea my flows are attached to my pro-chamber with about a 1.5 foot piece of pipe, with no exhaust pipes, no heat shield, and i have had no problems. It's been this way for about 6 months now
