Default Wider tires...

Comparing (275/40 17) tires and (245/45 17) sized tires... Whats the MAJOR benefit? I have the cobra rims and notice a little better dry traction especially in the front but they pull more into ruts and grooves in the road... If i were to go back to stock sized tires would that affect handling too much? And if so what can i do to get the handling/traction back to that of the wider tires? I currently have Bilsteen Shocks and Struts, Steeda Sport springs and the 275/45 pirelli p zero nero tires... Thanks...

Dude you dont really notice at all. 275's make your car roll a lot less through corners and i hook up a little nicer but honestly (other than handling) i didnt really notice a difference. Get some sticky track tires. You dont need to go with 275's in all honesty if you get a really sticky tire. A Z-rated high performance tire even on 245's will out handle your car. If you're looking to improve handling start with some sport springs, tubular upper and lower control arms and a strut tower brace. It was night and day for my car when i did that. If your more serious go to full coil over suspension, adjustable sway bars, and tubular k-member and A-arms. Most ppl just get 275's for the looks. It fills out a lot nicer than a 245 does

Well if the rims are wider you can't put the stock tires on the wider rims. My dad has a 99 stang with wider rims and tires and his car pulls into ruts and ridges on the road too and it's really anoying to drive.
