Default Factory Air Silencer Removal

Has anyone removed the factory air silencer in their Mustang? If so did you know any difference in throttle response, power gain, etc? Is it easy enough to put back on it I need to?

i removed mine when i first got my gt....it seems like a noticed a slight difference in performance, but it may have all been in my head. i still have it....it made an excellent chew toy for my 2 pits! im sure it would be easy to put back in if you want to...there arent any bolts that hold it in or anything.

Do you have to break it off or does it just kinda fit together?

ok, you are talking two different things here.1st-the cardboard cyclender in the intake hose is a vapor trap.2nd-the air silencer is only on autos and is under the intake hose.it is a small canaster on the bottom.as you can see here.this is the silencer.

dont expect much, it just sounds a bit louder, if you have an aftermarket exhaust you wont notice anything.
