Default What do you guys think?

I am normally over on the 5.0 forum, but I had to run this by you guys here. I just got my 88 GT project car about three weeks ago and last night I get a call from my cousin. He has a 98 GT that he wants to trade for my.........wait for it............. Honda Accord. He has two foxbodies for the strip, an 04 King Ranch dually, and an 04 Z71 as well as a few other cars. He needs something better on gas for his daily commute and doesnt want this car anymore. It was his weekend driver.

The car has the following:

70,000 miles
canary yellow
saleen hood
saleen bumper
saleen rims
M/T street/strip radials (or whatever you call them)
mosley rear end
4.30 gears
shift kit
cobra intake manifold
new Borla exhaust from engine to the rear

The engine is stock outside of that and my dad said he has never raced the car. I live 5 hrs away so I havent seen the car yet. I have agreed to trade him for it. Here are a few questions I have on these cars:

What can I expect problem wise out of a 4.6?

Are they easily modable without breaking my bank?

Lemme know. If he shows with the car, I'll get some pics up asap probably Sunday as he has to drive 5 hrs to bring it to me.

The first thing you'll want is the PI upgrade (better heads/cam/intake). The 96-98 4.6L in the Mustang GT was kinda weak...even for a 4.6L.

If the mustang is in good shape and not s**t I would trade and run away.
You will have fun with it......more than an Accord I would suspect.

What could I expect to spend on such an upgrade? And are there any problems with the setup he has? Also, need to make a correction. He just called me and it is the Ford Racing intake, not the Cobra....

He takes good care of his vehicles. Always has. He just likes to build em and sell em. He just installed a Procharger onto an 07 last week for a guy. He makes $28/hr as a diesel tech and is awesome on building engines. He isnt but 22..

Dont shoot me, but what exactly is PI? Remember, this is my first 4.6............

PI stands for Performance Improved (or Improvement, depends on who you ask). Basically, it refers to the 99-04 Mustang GT engine with 260hp. Other corporate cars also received this engine...

PI is the upgraded head that gives better power. Just do a search as there are many write ups on this.

4.30 gears will definitely be felt on this car.

Sounds like a good ride to me.

Ok, so what could I expect to spend on such upgrades? I dont make a ton of money and have a baby, so it would probably take a while.

Quite a bit for the PI swap. A little less than a blower... Without much money, just make sure the intake/exhaust/gears are good to go and save up for the better engine. Or, see if you can find a complete engine from a wrecked newer model.
