Default RE: Royal Purple vs Mobil 1

I just put royal purp in my car two weeks ago. I decided to try it because it I saw a video online where they did a dynotest on an LS1 with Royal Purple and gained 9HP. So I figured I could get a few ponies out of it in my Stang. I went with the 5W-20, and I have a stock 03' GT M/T with a K&N filter. As far as performance, I did NOT notice any power gains with the Royal Purple. But that's not to say that it didn't give me any power gains. Just nothing I can feel. Honestly, I felt more of a difference when I dropped my K&N filter in! And I know that filter doesn't really do anything powerwise. But usually when you change your oil, you can feel your car running smoother. With the Royal Purple, I felt nothing. That was kind of weird and worried me a bit, but my whip ran fine and so far no problems.

I also put in the Royal Purple tranny fluid in. That made a difference! Shifting is a hell of a lot easier. I recommend the tranny fluid to anyone considering it. As far as recommending the oil, I can't recommend anything If I don't have any positive credibility to support it. Again, not saying it is bad, but It just didn't do anything. It felt the same as before I got my oil changed.

I just use Mobil 1... The royal purple is about $9-11/qt for 5w20 motor oil... Screw that.

I heard that brand names of oil are all BS from a Modified Race Car motor building shop.

Its hard for me to vote, cause I run Mobil 1 in my motor (with no problems) and I have RP in my tranny (3650) which totally eliminated any hard shifting problems like I had before. Both FTW

I use Mobil 1 EP synthetic, easy to get a hold of versus Royal Purple. Dont get me wrong Royal Purple is a good oil, but I think if you are not driving an all out drag or race car, then go with the Mobil 1. I manage an auto parts store, lets just call it A-Z....=p and I can't even order Royal Purple if I wanted to use it. Mobil 1 I can just walk to the shelf and grab a case and filter and be on my way.
