Question please answer
Hey guys I just came back from the dealership looking for a 04 gt. I test drove and 04 with 39,000 miles and when I shifted at regular rpms I heard like a tin rattling sound. Almost like a pop can rattling. The sales man says it was the clutch plate that I heard. I think its a bunch of B.S.. what do you guys think. He wants 17000 for 39000 miles.

RE: Question please answer
sometimes that rattling can be the heat shield on the exhaust getting loose.....its a thin piece of sheet metal.....this is just an idea though. tell them u want the car but the noise has to be fixed...if he wants ur $$$ ...he'll get it done

RE: Question please answer
I'd keep looking. I just did a quick search on eBay and there was a 03 Mach for $16,500 with 17,000 miles. and there was a lot of GT under $17,000 with less miles than what you are looking at.

RE: Question please answer
Asking way too much for a 39k 04 GT. Sounds like you would be buying someone elses old headache.
The rattle could be a million things. The salesman is full of crap, it could have been anything from detonation, rattling heat shield, engine knock or other things.
Buying a car that the dealership will fix before you take it home is the biggest no-no in the business. So many temp/cob job fixes that'll make it last long enough to get it off the lot for 30 days.
Don't buy it. Keep looking.
