ran out of gas! DAMN!

RE: ran out of gas! DAMN!
Why let it get all the way down? I just fill up at a quarter tank or so and never worry about it. If I get down around a quarter then I know that I should stop by a gas station sometime, but I'm in no hurry and wont run out of gas anytime soon. It's quite simple that way. No need to rely on gauges or lights or anything.
360 MPG?!?! How much do you want for your car?! I'll buy it right now!

It's a great way to ruin a perfectly fine fuel pump.

Exactly what happened to me.. When the tech. that replaced it took it apart at my request, he showed me the carnage.. Totally grenaded the pump..

+1 on the stupid gauge...and +1 on the fuel filter...my buddy who used to be a ford tech also told me that it could screw up the injectors too...true?...maybe when you get the filter throw in a bottle of injector cleaner too

I'm also curious on why you would let it go that far down in the first place. It sounds like you had a handful of opportunities, and yet you kept thinking...a little bit more, a little bit further. I don't understand the need to push it so far on a tank of gas. Accidents happen, but when you do have the opportunity to get gas several times in one day...well, might have to rethink your fuel consumption strategy.
I hope no serious damage was done to your vehicle, that would really suck. Good luck!
