Performance Winter vs Studless Ice and Snow Tires

Performance Winter vs Studless Ice and Snow Tires
I am having a hard time trying to decide on which winter tires to get and also can't decide whether or not to sacrifice some snow and ice traction for dry and wet handling. As for the performance winter I would most likely go with the Dunlop M3 or Bridgestone LM-25, with the studless ice and snow it would be either the Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 or Michelin X-Ice. Obviously these two categories are different and I would like everyone's opinion on this. I live in MA and we get a lot of snow but usually the roads get cleaned off within a few hours of the snow fall so it's not like we have snow all winter long. Also if anyone has any different recommendations on WINTER tires that would be great. Thanks

i live in MA as well, i have a 98 GT. my car sits in the shop for the winter. i wouldnt bother with snow cars, just get a winter beater. but if your going with snow tires check out blizzak, i have heard nothin negative about them.

I am most likely going to get the following for my mustang:
Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 (Performance Winter) Snow Tire
(4) 225/55-16
New Steel Wheel (Black Painted)
Steel Wheel (4) 16X7
Right now I have 17in rims, but 16s will fit as well. Also - I dont care about fashion in the winter so steel wheels will work out nice

Hey,
I live in MA, and feel your pain.. I couldn't get a winter beater last year...
Blizzaks are awesome!!! I had them on 2 of my previous cars, and loved them...
If you've got some extra cash, Pirelli snow tires, or the Dunlop Graspics (I think it's Dunlop) rock as well...
Don't forget a couple bags of sand, or some heavy stuff in the back.. You know the rest..
The worst part about driving the Mustang in MA in the winter is the hills... Nothing worse..

I don't immediately recall, in fact, I think it was a slightly older model maybe??
I do remember their dry pavement handling to be AWESOME!! since they're softer than normal street tires... They do wear out a little faster than normal tires though, since they're soft..
I know guys that drag race on snow tires since they're such a soft/grippy compound..
