Long term damage due to x pipe?
Im still debating if I want to install my x pipe or not. I am worried about freeing up too much backpressure and leaving the car untuned for a long period of time. I do have flowmasters right now and I've heard they are pretty restrictive. Do you think I will be ok? Also what are the fines for getting caught without cats?
thanks

ohh yea and cats .. what cats!?!?! - unless you live in cali - no fines - I live in NC and techincally emissions is not a patrol cops buisness - most inspection stations dont look under my car (basically none) - dont rev up next to a cop and you can drive open headers - I have long tubes - they are loud as hell and I get 0 problems

i have O/R X pipe in cali and no problems. you have to be doing something really foolish to get cought. The only problem is on roush side exhaust tips turn brown in one week. Something about the un-burnt fuel. Anyways at a $175 a tip it sucks. Some back to black detailer and alum. polish does the trick.

Just depends where you live. In NC it doesnt seem to be a problem with the noise and as far as the inspections they are pretty cool about it. Just check on the laws in your state. Catless is the way to go! Sorry green guys.

Massachusetts is near California for stringence in their Inspections, but it shouldn't affect you...
Anyway, I don't understand why you think putting an O/R X pipe will free up "too much," back pressure.. Remember, engines run optimally w/ the least amount of back pressure.. The only way you'd really damage your engine is to run open headers, since it can cause burning of the valves/valve seals...
Otherwise, throw them on, and be done w/ it... You'll be happy you did...
Oh, and think about how many people have done it on here, and I've NEVER seen anyone say "Oh, I think I messed up my engine by installing the X-Pipe.." It just doesn't happen..

Anyone have an O/R mid pipe in VA? Ive also thought about going with the O/R but im kinda paranoid to try it and end up spending $300 bucks for nuthing.
But hey i've heard trucks here louder than frigin drag racers so i think i could get away with it (and trust me these old trucks are LOUD). Its the thing to do here.
