MY girlfriend has a 2003 eclipse and it is a dog in every gear. You would have to launch it at 3000 rpm just to get a tire to churp. It is the base model but I believe if you have no torque whats the point of having and engine. If you raceit launch it strong and drive it hard and you should be ok.

I the salesman if he's so sure about that Eclipse, but wouldn't race you...how did does he know for sure that it's Faster? Did he watch 2 Fast &amp; 2 Furious<IMG src=smileys/smiley8.gif border="0">???

The funny thing is when the tFnF came out all the small car dealerships around here were using the fast n furious in their sales ads.

i love 1g and 2g DSM's, there's so much you can do the the 4g63 engine, they're tough as nails, and pretty quick. the 3g's are grandma cars though, i've got no respect for them, it's just not a DSM if they don't offer a turbo model! lol</P>


bone stock my brother's '99GS-T and my '96 GT were pretty head to head, if i had a 2000 GT i think it would be a different story heh the only thing i can say for his car as opposed to mine, is because his car comes stock with a forced induction system, he can pick up some cheap fuel upgrade parts and a larger turbo for much cheaper than i can find a decent supercharger</P>

2002 Stang GT

i have raced 3 GS-T with my '02 GT, never lost to any of them, the dealership is full of s**t! trust me the GT will smoke it.

I would take the new stangGT over the new V6 eclipses. Actually if your sister wants an sports import, have her buy an RSXS or celica GTS for that price range.</P>


Like all car companies Mitsubishi makes family sedans. Now.. they advertise the eclipses GT/GTS as being "sporty"... But just remember that all you're getting is theshell.. Under the hood is the same sedan engines they put into their family sedan lines. It's far from being a performance engine.</P>


Eclipse GT = family sedan with sporty shell.
Eclipse GTS = slightly tweaked family sedan with slightly sportier shell.</P>

I dunno if thats true. I have a mustang and theres a kid around town with an eclipse gts and rumor has it the thing aint that great. I've driven a regular eclipse gs, i know its nothin like the gts, but the eclipse gs was nothin compared to my 4.6. I would sure as hell hope the stang could beat the GTS

Eclipses Pieces of crap.........how daring is that.........f***ing lawnmowers pieces of s**t......I wouldnt even waste my time racing those POS............f***ing salesman, he was probably referring to a stock V-sick Stang, some of those asses dont know the difference or cant tell the diif between a Cobra vs GT vs Vsick........
