Default Driving manual (update lol)

Well some of you may know Im just learning how to drive manual on the Mach and its getting easier and easier everyday. I took it around the neighboorhood and didnt stall once [8D] My shifting is still pretty rusty and rigid (kinda jerks when i shift) but its going better. But one thing, Im in third gear going about 35-40mph @ 2100-2300 rpms and if i let go of the gas then press it, it sorta of pumps or nudges forward a bit ( i dunno how to explain it )...do i need to just stay in 2nd with my rpms higher like 3000ish? Or what?

I just learned today though how much the 4v hauls ***. Good stuff [8D]

thats normal, all manuals do that. Just either dont let go of the gas, or yes, stay in second. if im coming to a stop or redlight or whatever, and im in second gear and its getting close, i just stay in 2nd. and it helps me slow down.

try this. when ur shifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd, push the clutch in right when ur foot comes off the gas. not after or it will be like a rigid shift. if ur foot is still on the gass a little, it will make it smooth. when a lot of my friends drive my car, they let off the gas then shift and its all clunky and shaky.

if that doesnt make sense tell me, i will try explain it better.

i wish i had a 4v[&o]

I would leave it in 3rd if I was going to stay at that speed going up the road, if you are "passing thru" that speed, like getting onto the freeway, I usually run second up higher before going into third. If you went into second you would likely notice the same thing (if I understand what you are talking about, it feels like the throttle is touchy as can be and pushing on it plants your butt, letting go tosses you forward)

Now, this is from someone not wanting to watch his gas guage drop and not literally racing the car everytime it is driven.... written strictly from the conservative commuting standpoint.

The former is a seperate deal all together.
