Need help pulling T45 tranny question
I have exhaust, drive-shaft outta the way and transmission to engine bolts out. I am installing new clutch but can't seem to budge the tranny off of input shaft. I have tried supporting at different points on tranny but no good. Am I missing something? I know it should just slide out but it seems a bit difficult. Does the starter need to come out? Should transmission be in gear? Any info will be helpful. thanks.

yes the starter will need to come out. Then just kinda crack the seal between the engine and the bell housing with a screwdriver. I dont know how much room you have on the new edges but in my 98 in order to get the imput shafter to clear the fingers to get it out a friend had to pull up on the pully on the crank of the motor in the front to get the right angle.

yea pull the starter, have patience with the top bolt, its a b****. I hope you have someone helping you also because the T45 is heavy as s***. I had me and 2 of my buddies laying on our backs to get mine out.

I changed my clutch on my 98 GT and it was a bitch. You do have to pull the starter, there are some bolts that attach the bell housing to engine that are hard to see and have to be felt out, I think I had to get at one maybe two from the engine compartment, they were a bitch!! Once the bellhousing gets off the engine by prying with a prybar or screwdriver, wiggle the tranny but not too much, you don't want to bend the input shaft. I had problems with these tabs on the top of the tranny rubbing against the body, there made some nice dents on the tranny hump on the body. I cut those off when it was out. Make sure you replace everthing you everything you can with the tranny, the pilot bearing, front + rear seals of tranny, clutch fork (if bent out of shape), the stud on the tranny (again if wornen), maybe the clutch cable, I think that's all might be more. Just makes it easier to do it now with the transmission out.
