Default Exhaust?

ok i have an '02 GT that is pretty much stock except for the cold-air intake and some other interior dressup I put in. I'm considering putting in an entire exhaust. I was looking at BBK long-tube headers to a BBK cated x-pipe, to an SLP loudmouth exhaust. However I'm always open to suggestions. Also does anyone know if there is a company that makes an off-road H-pipe for my car. Thanks

As a matter of fact BBK makes an O/R H pipe for your ride. Also you dont have any mods that call for long tubes right now. So unless you really want em dont worry bout the LTs. thats an extra $500 in your pocket. Why not just throw a X or H-pipe, catted or not on some Loud mouth 1 or 2 mufflers?

Thanks for the comment and I've thought about the reason why i wanted the LT's. Mainly because i like the sound that comes from them, but you are right about not needing them.

Didn't Code say quite a while back that BBK X-pipes had a really raspy sound to them? I may be mistaken, but I'm 99% sure that someone said BBK x-pipes sound like ****.

Just to clarify, I was referring entirely to their X-pipes only. IMO the OP should get the longtubes, off-road H, and borla stingers

Save yourself nearly a grand man, and don't bother with them. I, like you, don't necessarily plan on making enough power to greatly benefit from LT headers, but instead, just wanted a great sound.

So I went with an o/r H (from MAC) and Borla Stingers, which came up to a bit less than 700 dollars. Adding an extra 500ish for headers, and another 4-500 for install, would in no way be anywhere close to being worth that kind of cash for the small difference it will make in sound.

I STRONGLY reconsider purchasing/installing LT's just for a sound oriented reason.

Good Luck.

i also agree that the hassle that you will have with longtubes is not worth it right now. i, like a few others that posted before, wanted long tubes, but damn....the price for those + install was going to break the bank in itself. so instead i went with an slp catted x and borla stingers. IMO it sounds amazing, but i havent put on my BBK shorty headers yet...so i dont know how its going to be affected.

Don't forget about the MAC Prochamber. Its alot like the H-pipe but has a great sound as well. They come O/R and catted as well. They now make a stainless steel version if thats what your looking for. SLP, Borla, and Bassani are all top quality catbacks and can't go wrong with any of them. Magnaflow is a good bang for your buck and you always have Flowmasters to choose from. Just find the one you like the sound of best and good luck.
