quick question on tune up
 

my 2002 gt had 86,000mi on it now. i have replaced the spark plugs air filter fuel filter oil is changed every 3000 miles and the tranny fluid has been changed. is there anythign im missing here to get it running better like pcv valve rear diff. servicing ignition wires coils?

I would consider the PCV and rear diff fluid. Also, how many miles on your serpentine belt? Inspect your shocks/struts for leaks/function and, of course, the brakes. Finally, when was the cooling system last drained and flushed? Inspect the hoses for cracks and soft spots.

Well serpentine belt is original as far as I know lol. Just replaced pads and rotors on the brakes last week. I replaced the Shocks/Struts with KYB Gr-1's and I flushed the radiator and filled it with antifreeze and water-wetter about a month ago (1300mi). Ill check the hoses and the belt is getting replaced this weekend for sure. It has the squeal of death now. Not sure if you know the solution for this problem of not, but when I try to slide the car to the right or cut doughnuts to the right only the inside wheel spins. is this because my rear diff. needs to be serviced or just a quirk of limited slip rear-ends? What I mean is theres not sliding theres just spinning of the inside tire, but only on right hand turns. Thanks for the help.

Sounds good overall. Belts should be changed at 60K or less. 30K if you have a S/C.

I think it's a function of the limited slip, but your disks may be a little worn in the diff. Nothing to worry about, really.

Alright well thats good news. I'm really happy with the shape this car is in. My car with only mods being a CAI is still faster than my grandfathers bone stock 2004 GT with 11,000 miles on it. I don't know exactly why but its not the CAI I've taken it off and driven both cars in stock form and mine is still faster. Both hardtops. I can't seem to explain it because his should be faster with a fresh motor. Its a pretty big difference any ideas? Oh and what is the PCV valve/where is it? That and the belt is getting changed this weekend.

If you have one, it should be on the driver's valve cover. I just looked at mine, but it does not look like a PCV valve. However, it's cold outside and I didn't stay to look closer.

As far as being quicker, it should not be. Maybe your car has different gears. That would make a huge difference.

I appreciate you checking for me. I understand where your coming from I just walked out into the garage and I didnt care to stay out there very long at all either. It looks to be on the passenger side valve cover its hard to see it buried under a bunch of stuff. Looks like the intake tubing needs to come off to replace it. What fluid for the rear-end would you reccommend? Thanks for all the help!

I forgot that the pcv moves depending on romeo or windsor.

For the differential, I hear very good things about Royal Purple. Everyone raves about it. I'm leaving mine be due to extended warranty coverage. Once that warranty is finished, then the wife will permit more changes like gears and a tuner.

The PCV valve is on the passenger side valve cover. You should also think about replacing the plug wires. Just a thought.
