Default Tune/octane help:

Well... just found out the car I bought is tuned for 93 octane.. and I can only get 91 anywhere around here..... Which is a problem.
Will I be able to drive the car and stay out of boost untill I get it retuned?
Ive never dealt with a supercharger and methonal injected issue.. Anyone know how much of a loss the downgrade in octane will cause in HP#'s? Right now its putting right at 405 to the wheels..

Also, is there anything I can do to offset the difference in octane? Any type of octane boost, or any quick tricks (like slightly lowering my timing a bit.) that would do it?

Lol, anyone know a good tuner in oklahoma? The guy that ran the dyno I took my car to closed up shop and moved back in august...

Default RE: Tune/octane help:

if your car came with a handheld tuner you may be able to back off the timing a couple degrees generaly the rule is for every two octane points you change the timing 1 degree

Stay out of boost till you get it tuned and you will be fine. Its probubly gonna ping if you get on it and that can lead to detonation.Im looking at a blown headgasket right now because of a bad tune

Default RE: Tune/octane help:

is 1* of timing enough to offset the 2 octane points w/ the meth setup? I have delt w/ FI cars before and know plenty about det, a/f ratios, etc.. but ive never dealt with one that was also methonal injected as well.. and never done my own tuning on one.

Any way to test detonation w/o being under full load, like prewarnings?

I will definatly get it retuned.. buy buy an aftercooler first if the timing drop does the trick untill I can.
