Yup, the tip just broke off. Fished for it in the pan no luck. Have not started and do not intend too. I search for a thread for pan removal with no luck. Can someone shed so much need light? It looks as if I need to lift the engine, but thought I'd ask first......DOH!

Yeah you'll probably have to lift the engine, but not far, only a couple of inches. If you're good, you can take the bolts out of the pan and drop it the few inches it will go and do some fishing to get the dipstick piece out and you won't need to lift the engine. I'm not sure where you'll find a how-to though.

yup tried that with no luck (fishing oil pan drain hole) I actually think it is still lodged in the dipstick housing, I'm still trying to get that bugger out. How long is the part of the dipstick housing that rests inside the pan? Its already out about 1.5" but cant get the whole housing out w/o bending, pulling, and dropping the F BOMB! thanks guys

Hmmmmmm...Tricky one.
My suggestion...Drain the pan, sick a power hose fitting in there, open the drain plug and BLAST it out!!!
No seriously, lift the engine a bit, maybe even put it on a lift if you have access to it, local High Schools are a good spot, and remove the pan. Good Luck.
Just out of curiosity...Howd ya pull that one on yourself???

I've done it before... i broke the tube off when i was installing long tubes.
What to do: Un bolt all 16 or so bolts from the oil pan so it drops down about 1.5 inches or whatever. Still cant get your hand in there, but just leave it like that.
Then, unbolt each motor mount from each side of the engine (1 on each side) They are pretty easy to find... just look where the engine sits in the V of the kmember. Get a 2x4 and jack up up the engine/tranny right where they meet. Just jack it up enough so you can get enough clearnace to reach your hand around and grab the piece in the tube.

Have you tried a big magnet and drag it across the bottom to the drain plug? I would need to see a pic of what you broke and how much to really be able to help.
