Default Question About 99-04 Gt's

Parents finally said i could trade in the six for a gt if i paid the diffrence in insurance!!! I have an 04 v6 auto and i see that on the local ford lot there is a beautiful 01 Silver mustang gt, it has 71,000 miles on itand from the outside looks to be in great condition. I could find any scratches on it, the car looks like it was well kept, no aftermarket modifications that i could notice i even climbed under the car and it has stock exhaust...The place wasnt open so i may venture back tomorrow with dad and get a test drive and see what they want for it. So my question for you all is...What do i look for?!? Any problems known with this year?? Anything i should be aware of?!? Any advice would help, as soon as i know what they want for it ill let you all know and ill try to get some pictures.

Thanks,
Casey

Default RE: Question About 99-04 Gt's

Its impossible to guage how a car has been treated in its past unless there are obvious mechanical factors.. none of which are likely to surface in a test drive or even a few weeks of ownership

just check fluids, ask when the last tiem the tranny fluid was changed, diff. etc...

make sure it shifts fine, no failing synchros..

these are all drastic things though, none of which are likely to be apparent on a dealership vehicle..

as for price, an '01 with 70K shouldnt bring anymore than 10K at MAX

and dont worry if you dont get it, dont be over anxious and jump into anything, there are Mustangs all over the place waiting for new owners

good luck

if all you have to pay is the difference in insurance costs, then why not get a newer one with less miles....like an 04? insurance would be about the same and you would have a newer car that would last you longer than an older one with higher miles....just a thought.
