FIPK II intake

FIPK II intake
I was looking at my FIPK II air intake and it looks like it would just pull air from the engine compartment even though there is a shield. Anybody know if it pulls in "cold" air or hot air from the compartment?

most intakes would do just the same except for the cold air fenderwell kits, but you also draw air from the fender opening and you intake does grab more air. here is mine!!
