how would i tell if a rear wheel bearing is going bad? what are the signs? also how hard is it to install one? i know there fairly cheap. I have a noise coming from my drivers side rear tire when starting to drive from a stop, like from a red light etc. it only last for about a few seconds and just as the car starts to role.

it sounds kind of like when your brakes are worn down and you try to stop with them and the metal warning indicator is scraping the rotor, but my brakes are fine, and it only lasts for about 2 to 3 seconds after letting the car role from a stop, it doesnt make the noise if you get on the gas hard from a stop or at any other time other then a gradual role from a stop.

well i dont know specificly how to do it but like any other bearing you could try jacking car up and seeing if rim/tire move side to side and up and down
