Default 4.6 head / engine removal...

How difficult is it to remove the heads while on the 99-04 Mustangs? How about the complete engine, does it come out the top or is it like the GM LT1/LS1 out the bottom routine? I'm new to the 99-04 GTs and am thinking of pulling my engine (or just the heads) for some head work. Thanks...

The heads can be removed while its still in the car, a little tricky but doable, but because of the timing chain stuff I always just pull the motor and trans out the top. There are not that many more bolts to remove and when reinstalling the heads and chains etc its a lot easier out of the car, good luck.

just pull the whole engine its so much easier unblot the trans, then the 2 mounts, and unplug the harness and it should come out but if you pull the heads while on the car youll have trouble with the rear head bolts and the exhaust manifolds are a bitch
