exactly!!! thats the article!! now...how can you argue with dyno proven hp and say you think you lose hp? =]~

and i was wrong....they only gained 4hp from removing it, keeping the stock filter!! so add a k&n for maybe another 3hp? = 7hp just about as good as a cai!!

sorry....had to bring this thread back up to the top to clear up any misconceptions anyone may have about removing the air silencer! also in the tech/how to section they have a "how to remove the air silencer" thread if anyone needs it! =]

haha, your not getting any more then 5 rwhp from a CAI, maybe like 4, unless its a cobra then they get like 24[&o]

in any case the hole for the silencer is still pointed too, and is right next to the fender well. At Texas Hot Rods the first thing the guys do is pull the silencer.

I was going to get a CAI but the returns for the $$$ is a joke.

I have always thought that to take the silencer off would allow more hot compartment air into the filter (engine) and affect performance.

The silencer is down into the fender where the air is cooler so that should be much better for HP.
I just have a K&N in mine with the silencer left on until I can find some better way without blowing money for 2HP.

in any case the hole for the silencer is still pointed too, and is right next to the fender well. At Texas Hot Rods the first thing the guys do is pull the silencer.
