Can't get the damn wheels off!!!
Figure maybe someone can help.
I'm doing the brakes on my parents minivan (1997 Transsport) and I've got all the lugs off, but can't figure how to get the wheel off!!! I tried violently kicking it, but no luck there. Does anyone know if GM did something retarded with the '97's???

I've seen on some vehicles the back of the studs where the tires mount there are lock rings on the stud. just looks like a washer is all. Otherwise it might just be rusted on there. try tapping the back side gently with a rubber mallet!

Same thing has happened to me. I had to hit the inside of the tire pretty hard to get wheel off.Make sure car is on jack stands. When you put wheel back on,put thin layer of grease inside hub opening.Good luck.

Probably just rusted on there. If you can't get it off by hitting the inside of the wheel, you could try heating the rusted areas up with a propane torch. Thats only if the wheels on the minivan are the kind with hubcaps though.

spray some pb blaster around the hub. put one lug nut on and turn it a few threads. start beating (hammer or foot) from the back. when you put it back on put some anti-sieze around the hub.

Came off. Just soaked it in wd-40 and beat the **** out of it with a rubber mallet.

Next time it happens, don't use a torch, ever.. Using a torch around wheel bearings, and things that are soaked in grease isn't the smartest thing..
What you can do though, is use some PB Blaster, WD-40, or your favorite lubricating spray, get it good around the lugs, and take the vehicle for a ride, and get on the brakes a few times.. This should heat up the hubs to the point where you can beat it w/ a hammer, and it'll come off...

Half loosen the lug nuts and lower the car gently back to the ground but don't remove the jack or take all the weight off it. The weight of the car should 'crack' the wheel off.
