According to shm it is save to run 500 crank horse on them all day long. He also said he really can't remember a time he's ever heard them fail always the rods first.(that of course is with a stock short block) I agree with the statement above, if your going to spend the money on the short block you might as well spend the money to do it right.

If we're talking a bone stock 2v engine, 400rwhp is as high as I would go. The stock rods in the gt motors cannot sustain that much horsepower. If you have any hopes of achieving 500rwhp, I'd seriously consider forging the internals.

http://www.seanhylandmotorsport.com/

They offer great prices for what is needed to reach 500rwhp

He didn't ask about the rods. SHM is crap anyway.

For 600 bucks you might as well grab the forged crank.

how is SHM crap - ....? I seen them put out some bad *** stuff and they are a big time group so i highly doubt that SHM puts out anything less than any other company - Its not like they make the ****
I just saw a DSS pro mod motor pop a few weeks ago - but the tuner fukd it up not the builders

Well I guess if that is your uneducated opinion you are entitled to it. SHM may not be the best company for customer service and they may be a little high on prices but I promise their product is not crap. Further more I took information that was in Sean Hyland's book. That has nothing to do with his companies product. Sean Hyland is also like the guru of the 4.6 so I think I'll take his opinion over yours.

+1

All forged is defintaly worth it. If you don't, you will be kicking yourself every time you think of being restricted by the cast crank.

I should have said that his customer service is crap. I know I wouldn't trust my money with him. I've read quite a few horror stories about him. But you are right, he does know his stuff.

The stock crank is a strong piece. I have seen plenty in the 500-600rwhp range but i would go forged over that...You can find used Cobra cranks for under $300 if you look.
