91GT- See you are a sensible guy with some kowledge and I can talk to you on a human level. Yes RR's add horsepower, they increase valve lift and allow MORE a/f mix to enter the combustion chamber.

Oh yeah I almost forgot. Gears dont add HP LOL.

They DO however bring you into your powermaking RPM band quicker. THAT is what gears do.

Ok, I believe you, but I don't believe you. I'm gonna have to see dyno runs comparing two different gear ratio's to see if they do or don't myself. Until then, this debate is over on my end.

It will if your coming from stock gears. The best way to minimize fuel consumption is to shift at 2500 or below, and I'm not sure what cruising RPM's with 3.73's are on the freeway, but try to keep it around 2000-2500.

You might notice achange in mileage but not to the point where its not worth doing. I had 4:10's in my last stang and the gas mileage was horrible but I was having sooo much fun It didnt matter. Put the 73's in and you'll see why its easy for people to think that gears give you HP. Its one of the most noticeable changes you can make to a car!!!!
