Default Partial P.I. swap

im looking more into a pi swap and as of now i dont have the money to do intake/cams/heads and all the goods. im thinking about doing a little bit at a time. what would you guys say would be the best step in making progress towards a full swap. by that i mean which of the parts in a pi swap would give me the most hp for my money if i were to do one at a time. say split the 3 mods 4 months apart. any help is greatly appreciated

the most cost effective would be the pi intake with the aluminum crossover. that's my next mod i'm doing for sure. you could probably find one on e-bay for like $100, not bad for about 12-15 wrhp!!

the pi intake will not just bolt onto the npi heads, you need an adapter plate

you can do it without plates....just need the PI gaskets and a small dab of RTV to seal the water jacket. Not hard at all and has been being done for a couple of years with freat success.

The PI intake can be found for @ 100-125 dollars and the PI cams can be found for $60-100 and the 2 combined will add up to 30rwhp for less then $300....

wow, that answered my question perfectly, i know where my next paychecks goin.
a kid on here dynoed his 98gt. identical to mine. got 171rwhp. wtf? wheres all the power getting robbed? 230 to the crank but 170 to the ground? cars are supposed to get jacked of around 10% of the crank hp. which would mean we should be getting like 207rwhp. 170rwhp is getting robbed of 26 friggin percent. more than a quarter of our hp. wtf!!!! seriously. well after the intake swap, i should be close to hangin with the new edges. or not depending on how gay my car wants to be.

What are you saying the baseline is? No way without the PI heads you make more than about 210-215 (if that).

Hell, all stock 99-04 cars usually dyno around 225-230. The heads are a major major part of the problem too..

A dyno is just a tool and shouldn't be taken as anything other then that...our cars typically dyno 180-190 for 5sp and 170-180 for auto...it is sad but 94-95 5.0's are in the same area so they are just as pathetic.
Once you replace the intake and cams it will be much better.

Thats about where you end up 210-215 after a PI Intake/PI cam swap with most NPI's starting @180rwhp.
It has been proven time and time again that the heads are not as big of a cork as once thought. The intake/cam swap nets @30hp while the complete swap is generally good for about 40. From that 10 hp difference atleast half is from the compression bump. If you put the larger PI valves in the NPI heads then they get that much closer to being even. P&P'd NPI's flow the same as P&P'd PI's also...but none of this is new info and has been around for years.

96-98 GTs are 215 at the crank, not 230.
