just put it this way, my friend has a gt with just a centi and off road h pipe nothing else and i can keep up 1st and 2nd pretty good, he doesnt get any boost till after 3000 rpms and before that he is just a reg, gt with nothing done. hes only at 350rwhp i think tho.
just go with the twin screw you will have boost at all rpm ranges

I can gaurentee you from a stop a similarly setup KB car will not outlaunch me because of his low end torque. I dunno what RPM your friend is launching at, but I launch at 3000 to 3500 RPM.. well into the boost curve.
1st gear takes all of about a second.

the kb 2.1l fits under stock hoods, says right on the website
