Default Lurching noise in low speed turns

The other day I noticed a quiet "lurching" noise as I parallel parked. I thought it was odd but I wasn't bothered by it. Today I noticed it again in a parking lot. I drove a little bit more and would hear the noise only when turning, and only noticable at low speeds. It's not really a squeel, it almost sounds like the brakes. Does anyone have any experience with what this noise could be?

My car was totally fine until I drove 300 miles in a straight line to california at relatively constant rpms. once i got there, I backed into a spot and i heard this groaning, whining coming from the rear diff -only while turning in reverse though. wtf happened to my diff?

well... it was probably heat build-up in the diff causing that noise... my friend's tranny did that in his rubicom.. after cruising the length of 195 in NJ at the same speed... when he got off and stopped at a light it groung into 4th becuase the fluid got too hot... (chrysler recalled the rubicons for putting in the wrong fluid)... but yea... it's prolly the fact that the heatbuild up caused the fluid to thin out... and make that noise... so maybe a change of fluids in your future.
