Radar detector doesn't shutoff when car is off
On my old car the power to the cig. lighter would go out too when the car was shut off. My radar detector remains on after I shutoff the engine. Now it's not a huge deal, but of course I don't want to wear out the on off button on my detector, is there a way to get ALL the power to shutoff in the car when the key isn't in the ignition?

i wired mine into a 12 volt source that goes of and on with the ignition. its wire to the same wire that i have my shift light hooked up to. if u want a vid or any help with it just ask.

all ford products that i have driven or owned do that. so far none of them cut power to the cig lighter when off. i don't see it as a big deal though. just keep it plugged in. for me it only caused the battery to go dead when i left the car off for days at a time. i always leave mine plugged in overnight and it starts like nothing in the morning. only time i turn it off is when it's a hot day because i don't want to roast the circuits inside. even then i don't actually turn off the detector i just unplug the whole thing.
are you having problems w/ your battery going dead? if you really wanted to you can hardwire it as mentioned. you can do it yourself or you can take it to best buy. i know they do it cause they asked if i wanted it done.
