Hey everyone i started this post to get to know fellow members with 96-98 (4.6l) Automatic GT. I want to know how everyone started off, with what mods exactly and how did they benefit you as the driver. Feel free to discuss anything, pros, cons, etc. regarding the mustangs listed.

I've got one.

I started off with the whole pi swap. It is the best thing for any pre 99 mustang (excluding 5.0's) auto or stick. Since then ive put on some 17 inch cobra R's and an o/r x pipe. The x pipe was CRAZY I had no idea that the stock H was so restrictive. The x really opened up my exhaust. The only thing that i could imagine some ppl not likeing is that it sounds more like an exotic growl then a muscle car roar. (If you want that go with the H). >>>>>> I think my next mod will be a tune. then the j mod. or gears.....................

i have a 96 auto gt, witch i like vary much. My biggest improvement was my gears then the O/R X pipe and i had my tranny rebuilt and i had them put a shift kit in, I also have the B&M shift plus switch that helps alot in being more like a stick it does the same thing as a shift kit but it increses line pressure so there are alot firmer shifts and you can also turn it off by the switch. So now my problem is geting off the line witch i will get a high stall converter and i will be just as fast as a stick. How do you like your auto do you wish you would have got a 5 speed?

Its nice to see some people actually took 3 minutes of their day to write exactly what i asked for. Thank you guys.

Anyway i purchased my mustang not too long ago. To be honest i dont know exactly what mods the prev. owner did, ( the engine looks pretty much stock). The pipes were changed, just based on the sound. Along with that it has a xenon kit, stobe lights and an under car neon kit. Im removing the neon and the stobes and considering removing the kit aswell. The twist on this whole story is that the bank was selling it at an auction and im still waiting for the title, because i have no documents currently. [:@]

For proformance mods i was considering buying a Flowmaster SS Cat specificly for a 98, with BBK o/r X and Mac Long headers, gears still not too sure 4.10 or 3.73, Densecharger Intake, and maybe a Head swap but still thinking that one over.

For exterior mods i want to take off all the crap i listed before and maybe sell it, and jus repaint the bumpers (myself) dont really feel like dropping hundreds of dollars for something i can do myself. Black Bullitt rims 17in., and new tires. I want that stock look to it.

Anyway guys i dont know if im missing anything i wanted to tell you, but either way i would really appreciate it if i would be able to contact anyone through AIM just for general reference. Mine is Denisthemenacee.

bump is when you want to keep the thread up. You "bump" it so more people will see it.

I've got a 97 gt auto. all i've done so far is exhaust (check sig). I wish I would have waited and got some long tubes with a shorty o/r h pipe. oh well, live and learn I guess. I am also trying to decide if I should go with a 3.90 gear or 4.10 ( i am leaning towards a 4.10). And which shift kit to get, B&M or Trans Go (leaning towards trans go). It sucks when you can only once in a while snag 2nd gear when manually shifting a stock auto tranny. I talked to a local guy from Brownston, MI that claims that if I get his "custom" burned chip and 4.10 gears that I can knock 3/4 of second off my 1/4 mile time. Time to start saving. Sorry for the lenghy post....
