mach 1 vs gt internals.

mach 1 vs gt internals.
Do the gt/mach 1's share the same internals...pistons and rods? I know the manual machs have the steel crank and can rev to 6800rpms,correct. So the only difference in the internals is the crank, so can a stock gt(99-04) rev to 6500+ with a steel crank? Wondering this as Im putting on stage 2 heads/cams and want a better benefit from them. Can someone break this down for me and let me know how to rev my engine safely to 6500 w/o buying anything but a steel crank.

isnt a mach 1 a 4v?

yes its the same crank on the manuals the auto come with the forged crank or vice versa either way that wasnt your question the cast steel crank would be the same as well as the pistons and rods are cast also so if the machs rev to 6500 then with the proper cams and heads/spring combo to eliminate valve float then the gt's should also rev to 6500 it isnt much from the 6200 redline stock

lol thats not the mans question im sure he has a gt already and doesnt want to buy a mach he just probably wants to know if he will be able to rev to 6500 if he changes the heads cams and valve springs

also radaman why would you need to buy a steel crank? unless your stock one is broke which i doubt you broke it i neve heard of anyone brakeing them even with 600whp they are still running strong on the stock crank and the only reason to rev to 6500 or more is if you have cams whos power band goes that high

RE: mach 1 vs gt internals.
agreed - you can rev to 6500 now... nothing really stoping you...
this is such a debated topic bc everyone I talk to (race shops) say the old steel one can take 500 or more hp - but not that many rpms.... I dunno I think its jsut cheap insurance when you swap internals
