Long tubes are better for more power, but not smog legal. I think almost every brand of shorties are emissions legal. Either way, both are incredible PITA to install with a notch higher to the long tubes. Honestly though, any good brand header, shortie or full length, is going to be better then the stock manifolds.

IMO shorties are a waste of time. Go long tubs or go home. The 3 hp shorties give you are not worth the PITA it is to install em

+1!

Long tubes will fail a visual inspection, but the main thing is what the sensors read.

With the motor out, as in my case, are the long tubes easy to install? I mean, can you just bolt them to the motor and drop it in like the shorties I had?

Yes, with the motor out they are easy to install. Putting the motor in is going to require a little bit of maneuvering to get it in square.

Shorties show virtually no gain on a boltons only car.

Why are LT's not smog legal? How can a header cause a car to be illegal? Isn't an off-road midpipe what makes it illegal?
