Default Coolant Question

I just hit 70,000 mile on my 99 GT and I've noticed that the coolant seems to look a little dirty. Has anyone in here ever flushed their coolant in their stang and what all is involved in doing it? Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Karlin

Default RE: Coolant Question

did mine last week

1. make sure the car is cool, and pop the drain plug to release all the coolant
2. if you need, flush the radiator (the directions are on the bottle)
3. fill it back up with atleast a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water, being winter, a 70 anti/ 30 water would be better
- - make sure your car is on when you fill up the radiator with heat on high to mix all old coolant still in the system
- - fill up with distilled water to prevent tap water contaminates from building up (not VITAL but its a good precaution)

Good, only change I'd make is that the recommendation is no more than 10% in either direction... Unless it gets WAY below freezing, a 50/50 mix will be just fine... if the ambient temperatures get to be above 100 you'll want to add more water, if temps are getting below 0 (fahrenheit of course) you'll want to do a little more coolant instead.
