40o+HP Guys: Any regrets?

RE: 40o+HP Guys: Any regrets?
I do have 400 hp, but I only have it when I want it. I don't regret it at all. I wouldn't worry about too much power, just make sure you make good choices...i.e. streetable heads, cams and such dont get to radical.

LOL I know what a problem to have. But I'll tell you I built the 73 with 400+ and race suspension, it's primal, and no fun on long trips. Rippin around Hyde Park, pissin people off with the noise and rubber smell is fun for about 2 hours, then it's nap time. You litterally feel like you've been beaten.[sm=outcold.gif]

RE: 40o+HP Guys: Any regrets?
It's fun, but the more I think about my KB & ever installing it, I think about why I need it for a street car. Insurance, keeping your license.... are all things I've worried about.
I used to have a blast driving my 02 GT. It wasn't fast enough to the point that I was going to be wishing the car only had 260hp when I crashed, rather than being in my Cobra. Driving mine as little as I do, on short trips seems almost like a waste, I don't get on many long empty roads to open the car up.
After taking this car to the track and making a couple passes, you realize how much easier it is to handle 400hp on the track than it is on the street. You don't have anything to worry about besides the person next to you. On the street to have fun with that HP, you are looking out for people, cars, cops or any hazards in the road that could make things get ugly, ontop of trying to control a quick car. The faster the car the bigger the consequences if it's a street car.

It is addicting, a sickness. The thing is, I have only really hot rodded older cars. I KNOW they will be uncomfotable and jumpy and loud. I don't know how these newer cars react to hp increases. If at 450 hp the only diff beween stock is the speed, then fine 450 here I come, but if the ride and reliability suffer too much, well maybe I rethink some things.

I probably have somewhere around 385-390rwhp so not over 400. But, with superchargers/turbos unless you're into monstrous power levels DD'ing is not effected at all. You can drive it like you would any car and not even notice. (Other than the whistle).
On the old hot rod cars you would have a huge cam etc. It's a little different with boost.

yes i got my car about 4 months ago right away i said i wanted 300 to the rear got it wasnt enough then i said 400 got it wasnt enough now im shooting for 500 and guess what it wont be enough after a month but thats what modding a car is all about if you dont have the money to keep investing you might just be better off with a few bolt ons and leave it alone and this is not an investment you can get any type of a good profit from .... its not the fact that crap breaks once your at a certain power if done right the stuff will last its the fact that its a never ending money pit and you never know when enough is enough my wife tells me i have a problem and need to see a doctor about it lol but she married me knowing this so that said the only regret you might have is once you start it will be hard to stop its kind of like taking on a drug habbit cost alot but this addiction SHOULDNT kill you
