you want your car to shift at 4,500 WHY? thats PEAK horse power. You can make your AUTO shift into second when you want but...... putting it in 2nd at ANY TIME , even a dead stop.

never tried it in drive..i always manual shift. ill give it a try on drive..afterall, the auto will shift when it needs to, makes sense than to manually engage it. i always though thats the "fastest" way of doing it but again, i havent tried in drive..ill see whats up with that. yeah thats the best way to launch.. keep your left foot on the brake, and right foot on the gas around 2000 RPM if u got the default stall converter since thats where i found thats where my power band starts for my 96 gt auto..cause starting from idle..actually kills your time since it takes longer to build torque..anyways, good info

i that track i do it both ways shift my self and leave it in D. Either way i preload it which is left foot on brake and bring the RPMs up to about 2000 or right before they start to spin. When the light turns green gradually but quickly push the pedal down and by the time you hit 2nd floor it all the way. My best time was shifting myself outta 1st at 4200 my first has no pull after that, and outta 2nd at 5200.

+1.....so lets say i start off in 1......when i WOT can i shift at any RPM, i thought if u shift earlier than ur car does it finishes it for u.

What about overdrive? Keep it on or off?
Leave it in drive and jus punch it or drop it down to 1st then shift 2nd and hit Drive? what rpm to get a good shift?
Also from a roll say 40 mph leave it in drive? or Drop it down to 2nd then hit drive?
Now Ive been doing it this way. Drop it down to 1st. Turn off T/C. turn off Overdrive. Pedal to the metal shift into 2nd at around 4500rpm Chirp the tires hitting 2nd (love that) then jus put it in drive and hold on. To me this seems the fastest maybe its jus me anyone care to let me know if this is good to do? thanks
